Integration silently drops updates
“A REST-based CMDB feed reports it succeeded but the CI 'environment' field never changes. What's happening?”
Approach
- IRE has a reconciliation rule granting a different data source ownership of that attribute.
- The integration write is accepted, then IRE drops the field per the ownership rule.
- Fix by either changing the data source name on the integration or updating the reconciliation rule precedence.
// Inspect via cmdbTransformAPI response { result: { status: 'SUCCESS', items: [{ attributes: { environment: 'IGNORED' } }] } }Alternate approach
Alternate: call the identifyCI script include directly with a test payload in a background script to see exactly which rule dropped the field.
Pitfall
Assuming HTTP 200 means the field wrote. Always inspect the IRE response payload.
